About this blog

Welcome to No More Bunk Beds!

This blog is about travelling on a budget as ‘grown-ups’.

I used to do lots of backpacking in my 20s – take up a small job for a while (usually in restaurants or shops), leave the job and travel as long as the money would allow whilst staying in a dorm room and living on pretzels… then repeat.

Dead Sea, Israel

Things are a bit different now; I now travel with my husband and do not really stay in a dorm room, we do not go to expensive restaurants and such but we enjoy street foods (still a significant upgrade from a bag of pretzels…) hence the name ‘No More Bunk Beds’.

Taj Mahal, Agra, India

Still, even as ‘grown-ups’, we like to travel on a budget and go to as many places as we can. We are not after luxury holidays or most comfortable state-of-the-art hotel rooms, but like to get out there, meet people, eat local foods, experience and see the world.

I am hoping that this blog will give me a place to log some of the details and memories of our journeys, but most importantly, I hope it can help other budget travellers of all ages and stages in life to find information, ideas, useful tips maybe, for their coming journeys.
